the power of valspar

For a long ass time this whole project has been goddamned disheartening. Every project turns into three more, and invariably involved more demolish work. Our schedules don’t facilitate the remodeling very well, and we’ve been living about forty minutes away for the time being. Both of us stressed from the project, life, work, each other, you name it. Its been… trying.

BUT.

We dropped a fair amount of money and decided to spend one weekend painting the three bedrooms. We didn’t have to do a whole lot to those rooms (thankfully), so we started finishing them off. Four cans of paint, a twelve pack of Saranac, and both of my brothers in town. Amazing. We managed to paint two of the three rooms in an afternoon, and it made a world of difference. Originally, the walls were caked with some offwhite bullshit to cover up some other bullshit the previous owners left behind. You could wipe it off with a paper towel. Seriously. I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned that yet.

Here are the rooms on the first pass:

The future office.

The gold room, ie the bedroom, ie the mustard room.

So, ultimately what I’m getting at here is that adding some color to the walls seriously improves morale. I’m starting to feel like this isn’t COMPLETELY futile. Stay tuned for the third room and the trim finish. Its gonna be sick.
