Being first time home owners and naive first time home remodelers there are more then a few things we have come across as being worth sharing with the uninitiated. It is our hope here at PlasterQuest to share at least a few of these gems along the way. The first one: When people tell you that poison ivy is poisonous you might as well listen to them and take the proper precautions. This stuff is horrible people – I mean SERIOUSLY bad. It doesn’t appear for more then a week afterward and it itches like mad for another week and then it sticks around for another week or more as a nasty looking scabby thing that doesn’t itch but prohibits you from wearing those cute summer skirts because you’re legs look like they’ve been gnawed on by a rabid animal… ::breath::
Lesson here: Wear long pants, long sleeves and gloves when doing any yard work in unfamiliar territory. This stuff was infused with a bush and we didn’t see it until well into the landscaping process and I ended up with something that looks like this all over my the bottom of my legs:
And if you don’t think that’s bad, or you’re thinking, “Gee – it kinda looks like a bug bite” please remember that this photo was taken AFTER all the itching, scratching and blistering (trust me… you didn’t want to see the blisters).
